Machine Safety and PSR Training
In-House and Public Training
Our customized training programs equip your team with understanding relevant safety standards and guidelines.
Available training sessions include:
Pre-Start Health and Safety Review
8-hour (1-day) course.
Designed for engineers, Health and Safety representatives, and anyone interested in Pre-start Health and Safety Review (PSR) this course provides learners with the skills for understanding the requirements of Ontario Regulation 851 Section 7. This training session has been designed to assist participants in understanding when a Pre-Start Health and Safety Review is required, the applicable legislation, exemption requirements and how compliance can be achieved. Participants will learn how to navigate PHSR reports and where to turn for more help if needed. Course materials will be will be based on the Ontario Legislation, Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development Guidelines and PEO Guideline for Engineers Completing Pre-start Health and Safety Review.
Note: Course instructor is a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario sub-committee updating the current “PEO Guideline for Engineers Completing Pre-start Health and Safety Review”.
Machine Safeguarding and Risk Assessment
8-hour, and 16-hour courses available depending on technical level.
Designed for engineers, maintenance, Health and Safety representatives, and anyone interested in machine safeguarding assessment this course provides learners with the technical skills for identifying machine hazards, evaluating safeguards, standards that apply to machine guarding and how to complete a functional safety risk assessment.
Training session introduces participants to the applicable standards, and identifies when and where they apply. The session will focus on methods of assessing risks, and effectively preventing access to hazards. This session will identify a series of engineering controls that are used to reduce the risk of injury due to safety hazards related to machines.
Ergonomics and Human Factors in Machine and Safeguarding Design
8-hour (1-day) course.
Designed for engineers, maintenance, Health and Safety representatives, and anyone interested in machine design this course provides learners with the skills for applying human factors and ergonomic principles when designing and/or modifying manufacturing equipment. Topics will include body mechanics and anthropometrics, workspace design, manual materials handling, vibration, environmental conditions, control layout, and other that topics that may be applied to improving overall machine design.
Principles of Machine Guarding for Robotic Systems (Robots, Co-bots, and AGVs)
8-hour (1-day) course.
Designed for engineers, maintenance, Health and Safety representatives, and anyone interested in machine safeguarding assessment this course provides learners with the technical skills for applying the principles of the CSA Z434 “Industrial robots and robot systems” safety standard and associated Collaborative Robot and Automated Guided Vehicles standards.
