An interlock switch on a machine is only as good as the safety control system it is connected to. Safety control system means the machine logic that tells the motors, pneumatic/hydraulic valves, and other sources of hazardous motion that a door is open and someone is accessing the safeguarded space.
Without a strong safety control system inside the panel that safety interlock/light-curtain/area scanner is just window dressing!
